Orange Faces Final Road Match

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse tennis team concludes its six-match road swing this Friday when
it travels to Pittsburgh for a BIG EAST matchup at the Alpha Tennis & Fitness Club. The Orange began its road campaign on March 25 at Army and has compiled a 3-2 record so far. Away matches have been a battle for the Orange all season and the squad will look to even up its 5-6 record on the road so far.
Harman and Kobelt Earn National Ranking in Doubles
Junior co-captain Emily Harman and freshman Maddie Kobelt are currently ranked No. 32 in the nation as a doubles pair. The two have been a force for the Orange at the No. 1 doubles position, compiling a 15-3 record so far this season. Before their loss at William and Mary last weekend, the duo strung together a 10-match win streak at the top spot.
Syracuse in the BIG EAST
The 'Cuse tennis team has been painting the BIG EAST Orange so far this season. The squad has compiled a 6-1 record against conference opponents, including a perfect record against BIG EAST foes at home (4-0). Syracuse began with six-straight wins in conference play against Georgetown (5-2), Seton Hall (7-0), Cincinnati (6-1), West Virginia (7-0), and St. John's (7-0), before losing to Rutgers on the road (3-4). So far this season, the Orange has outscored its BIG EAST opponents by a 35-7 margin.
Marrow Riding Singles Streak
Freshman Aleah Marrow has been shining for the Orange in singles play. Marrow is hoping to extend a current five-match win streak in singles. The Durham, N.C. native has been playing at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions and hasn't lost a match since the team's road match at San Diego State on March 16. Marrow currently owns the third-best singles record on the team at 13-5 and has compiled a 23-14 overall record for the season.
Kalhorn Named BIG EAST Player of the Week
Senior co-captain Simone Kalhorn was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week for the week of March 30. Kalhorn went undefeated during the previous week, going 8-0 in overall play, and powered the Orange to three victories in that week. The wins also put Kalhorn over the 100-win milestone in her career. Kalhorn's overall career record currently stands at 103-75.
Kobelt Leads Orange Overall
Maddie Kobelt is having a strong freshman campaign and currently leads the Orange in overall wins. Kobelt owns a 29-11 overall record so far this season. The New Albany, Ohio native is second on the team in both singles (14-6) and doubles (15-5) but owns the top spot overall.
Syracuse Strong in Singles Play
Singles play has been a strong suit for the Orange so far this season. The squad features six players who have earned more than 12 singles victories this season. Overall, Syracuse is 81-39 (.675) in singles matches. The team has been especially strong at the No. 3 singles spot, where Emily Harman, Maddie Kobelt, Christina Tan and Alessondra Parra have combined for a 17-3 record on the season. Parra has had the most success, earning six wins while playing at the No. 3.

Emily Harman and Simone Kalhorn were both named Orange Scholar-Athletes of the week this semester. The award is given out each week to a student-athlete who has demonstrated exceptional skill both in the classroom and on the playing field. Harman, a health and exercise science major, received the award for the week of February 7, while Kalhorn, a psychology major, earned it for the week of March 14.
