
ORANGE FIELD HOCKEY TABBED FIFTH IN NATIONAL POLL

2011 Kookaburra / NFHCA Division I Preseason Poll
SYRACUSE – The Syracuse University field hockey team received 664 points and a No. 5 ranking in the 2011 Kookaburra / NFHCA Division I Preseason Poll released today. The Orange posted a 16-5 record in 2010, including a perfect 6-0 mark in BIG EAST play. SU ended the season ranked fourth nationally after advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. All but five of SU's 19 opponents are either ranked in the top 20 or receiving votes, including four top-10 teams.
Three-time BIG EAST Coach of the Year Ange Bradley welcomes back 15 letterwinners and eight starters, including BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year Martina Loncarica and All-BIG EAST Preseason Team members sophomore back Laura Hahnefeldt, senior forward Heather Susek and junior back Amy Kee. The Orange begins the 2010 season having won a BIG EAST record 14 consecutive (and 17 of its last 18) BIG EAST regular-season games.
Syracuse opens the season against Monmouth on Saturday, August 27 at J.S. Coyne Stadium. Start time is set for 1 p.m.
