
Millman and Makowski Named Orange Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior Kelsey Millman (Center Valley, Pa.) of the field hockey team and sophomore Chris Makowski (Quakertown, Pa.) of the men's soccer team are the Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week for Oct. 29, 2012.
The three-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team selection, was the second scorer in the 3-2 win over Connecticut to clinch the BIG EAST regular season title for Syracuse. Millman earned BIG EAST Player of the Week Honors after a nine-point opening weekend in 2012. The Orange field hockey team captain, ranks ninth in career points at Syracuse with 88.
Millman has been a member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in every semester at SU. She is dual majoring in graphic design in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication and information management and technology in the School of Information Studies.
Makowski played in all 17 matches for the Orange men's soccer team this season. In 2011, he recorded his first point with one assist against New Mexico in 2011 and was a member of the Syracuse defense that held a 0-0 shutout versus Louisville.
The sophomore goalkeeper was a member of the Spring 2012 Athletic Director's Honor Roll. He is majoring in health and exercise science in the School of Education.
Millman and the rest of the Orange field hockey team will travel to Louisville, K.Y. to face Providence on Friday, Nov. 2 at 5 p.m. in the quarterfinal round of the BIG EAST Championship. Makowski and the men's soccer team will host Notre Dame in the BIG EAST Quarterfinal on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Syracuse Soccer Stadium.
