SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- No. 6/6 Syracuse goes for its third consecutive victory when it hosts Princeton on Wednesday, Nov. 21 in the Carrier Dome at 7 p.m. The Orange is 2-0 this season, while the Tigers enter the contest with a 1-2 record.
Tickets for Wednesday's game are available online, by phone (1-888-DOMETIX) or in person at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B). The game will be broadcast on Time Warner Sports Cable and SNY. Fans not in attendance can listen to the action on the Syracuse IMG Radio Network and its flagship TK99 (99.5 FM). Live video and audio will be available on Orange All Access on SUathletics.com. A CLOSER LOOK AT THE ORANGE
Syracuse defeated Wagner, 88-57, in its home opener on Sunday, Nov. 18 in the Carrier Dome. Senior Brandon Triche was one of three players to reach double figures in scoring with 21.
Syracuse jumped out to a 5-0 lead but the Seahawks fought back and led 19-18 with 10:00 to play in the first half. The Orange responded with a 12-2 scoring run to build a nine-point advantage at the 4:45 mark. SU's offense continued to click as it took a 36-23 lead into the locker room at halftime. Triche paced Syracuse in the opening half with 10 points.
The Orange continued to stretch its lead in the second, taking its largest lead of 34 on a free throw by Jerami Grant with 2:29 to play.
Junior Baye Moussa Keita was 6-for-6 from the floor and 3-for-4 from the free throw line for a career-high 15 points. Senior James Southerland also had 15 points as Syracuse's bench outscored Wagner's, 43-22. Triche, sophomore Rakeem Christmas and freshman DaJuan Coleman recorded seven rebounds each, while sophomore Michael Carter-Williams dished out a career-best 11 assists.
SCOUTING PRINCETON
The Tigers enter Wednesday's game with a 1-2 record this season. Princeton will be facing its second consecutive BIG EAST opponent after losing to Rutgers, 58-52, last Friday.
Two players are averaging double figures in scoring for the Tigers. Ian Hunter leads the way with a 15.7 per-game average, while Will Barrett is contributing 14.7 points per contest. Barrett and T.J. Bray lead Princeton on the boards as both grab 5.7 per game. Hummer's 18 assists and five blocks are both team highs.
Mitch Henderson is in his second season guiding the Tiger program. The 1998 Princeton graduate led his alma mater to a 20-12 record and the College Basketball Invitational quarterfinals last year. Henderson was a four-year starter at Princeton, who played in the NCAA Tournament in each of his last three seasons.
THE SERIES
Syracuse leads the all-time series with Princeton, 24-9, and has won the previous five meetings. The last time the two squads met was in the second round of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic in the Carrier Dome. Hakim Warrick scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Orange to a 56-45 victory.
