Mid-year signee Erica Handley will compete in the Orange lineup this coming fall under the leadership of head coach Leonid Yelin

Syracuse Orange volleyball mid-year enrollee, Erica Handley has been selected as a candidate for the 2012 Andi Collins Award, as announced by PrepVolleyball.com on Tuesday, Jan. 24.

The award recognizes the best high school setter in the nation. Handley is one of 69 athletes from around the country to be selected to the list. The winner will be announced within the next two weeks.

During her senior season at Lakeville North, Handley was named First Team All-State in Minnesota and Second-Team All-Metro, while averaging 12 assists per set and leading Panthers to an undefeated season and Class AAA state championship. She also earned All-State honors in her junior year, while attending Win-E-Mac.

Presented to honor the memory of Andi Collins, who dreamed of being the best in the country, the award recognizes the best setter in the nation, as Collins' dreams were cut short after she passed away from cancer on Sept. 4, 2003, just one month shy of her 17th birthday.
