SYRACUSE, N.Y. -Â The No. 5 Syracuse field hockey team (8-1, 0-1) hosts a pair of games at J.S. Coyne Stadium this weekend, including the first home ACC game in program history. On Saturday, the Orange takes on No. 4 Virginia (12-1, 1-1) in a battle of top-5 teams at 1 p.m. On Sunday, Monmouth comes to town for a 2 p.m. non-conference tilt.
• Syracuse is coming off its third win against a top-10 foe this season, defeating No. 6 Stanford, 3-1, on Saturday in Albany.
• The Orange is 8-1 to start its 2013 campaign, outscoring its opposition, 32-12. SU opened at the Asics Invitational in Hempstead, N.Y. (8/30-9/1) with wins vs. Quinnipiac (5-1) and Hofstra (4-1), before heading to East Lansing, Mich. (9/6-8), where it defeated Michigan State (4-0) and Kent State (6-2). SU opened at home with wins vs. No. 7 Massachusetts (2-1) and Ohio State (1-0) on the weekend of Sept. 13-15 be fore splitting on the weekend of Sept. 20-22, losing its ACC opener at No. 17 Boston College, 6-3, before bouncing back with an impressive 4-0 win at home vs. No. 6 Princeton.
• Coming off one of the most successful seasons in program history - going 19-3, winning the BIG EAST regular season title, spending three weeks at No. 1 in the country and advancing to the program's second Final Four - the Orange makes the move to the ACC in 2013 with a squad that includes 10 newcomers.

ORANGE-HOT AT HOME
• The Orange has been dominating at J.S. Coyne Stadium since seventh-year head coach Ange Bradley took the reins in 2007 as it currently rides a 39-game home winning streak dating back to 2009.
• SU has outscored the opposition, 162-30, or an average score of 4.2-0.8, during the winning streak.
• In home games under Bradley (since 2007), Syracuse is 55-6 (.902) overall. That breaks down to 39-4 (.907) in non-conference games and 16-2 (.889) in conference games.
• The Orange is off to a 3-0 start at home this season. Last season, SU went 8-0 at home and outscored its opponents, 34-7. In 2011, Syracuse went 13-0 at home and outscored the opposition, 65-9.Â
• SU's last home loss was on Sept. 6, 2009 vs. No. 7 Princeton, 3-2, in overtime.
HELLO ACC!
• Syracuse plays its inaugural season in the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2013. The Orange brings the nation's premier field hockey conference's total of programs to seven.
• All seven ACC teams are currently ranked in the NFHCA Top 20, including four of the top five (No. 1 Maryland, No. 2 North Carolina, No. 4 Virginia and No. 5 Syracuse).
• ACC teams have been dominant in non-conference games this season, amassing a 54-4 mark for a winning percentage of .931.
• ACC teams have won 10 out of the last 11 national championships and had at least one team in the title game for each of the last 14 years.
ORANGE AT NO. 5
• For the third week in a row, Syracuse is ranked No. 5 in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll.
• The Orange started the season ranked No. 5 in the preseason poll, before slipping to No. 6 on Sept. 10, and has been ranked fifth ever since.
• SU finished 2012 ranked No. 5 after the Orange was No. 3 for three straight weeks in the poll after spending the previous three weeks at No. 1.
TOP 10 STREAK REACHES 58 WEEKS
• The Orange has now been ranked in the top 10 of the NFHCA poll for 58-straight weeks, dating back to Aug. 28, 2008.Â
• The Orange was ranked No. 1 for three weeks in 2012 after spending three weeks at No. 2, its highest ranking since reaching No. 1 for the first time in program history in 2008.
VS. RANKED OPPONENTS
• Syracuse is 3-1 against ranked opponents this season, most recently beating No. 6 Stanford, 3-1, on Sept. 28. The other wins came against No. 7 Massachusetts, 2-1, on Sept. 13 and No. 6 Princeton, 4-0, on Sept. 22.
• Syracuse is 46-54 against ranked teams since 2007, but is an impressive 20-7 in its last 27. SU was 10-2 in 2012 and was 7-4 in 2011.
• The only losses to ranked teams in 2012 were to No. 5 UConn, 4-3, in the BIG EAST Championship and to No. 1 North Carolina in the national semifinals. This season's loss was at No. 17 Boston College, 6-3.
• The Orange is 21-33 against top 10 teams since 2007, including a 3-0 mark this year.
SERIES VS. VIRGINIA
• Syracuse is 0-2 all-time against Virginia with meetings in 1993 and 2010.
• In the most recent game, on Sept. 12, 2010 in Norfolk, Va., Martina Loncarica gave SU the early lead, but Virginia tied the game three minutes later and ELly Buckley scored in overtime to give the Cavaliers a 2-1 win.
• The first game in the series was another 2-1 OT win for UVA on Sept. 18, 1993 in Charlottesville, Va.
SERIES VS. MONMOUTH
• Syracuse is 2-0 all-time against Monmouth, winning early-season match-ups with the Hawks each of the previous two seasons.
• The Orange opened the 2012 season on Aug. 24 with a 8-1 win at Monmouth. Lauren Brooks, Stephanie Hussey and Kelsey Millman all had two goals each.
• SU opened the 2011 season on Aug. 27 with a 4-0 win vs. Monmouth at Coyne Stadium. Leonie Geyer, Heather Susek, Amy Kee and Nicole Nelson scored goals.
ORANGE OVER CARDINAL
• Laura Hahnefeldt, Alyssa Manley and Emma Russell scored a goal each to lead No. 5 Syracuse to a 3-0 victory vs. No. 6 Stanford (6-2) last Saturday afternoon at Albany's Alumni Field.
• The Orange's three goals marked the most allowed this season by the Cardinal, which came into the game with the NCAA's top-ranked defense and four-straight shutouts.
• Syracuse's attacking penalty corner unit remained sharp, scoring two of the team's three goals, while the Orange enjoyed a 10-8 shot advantage and Stanford held the edge in penalty corners, 6-4.
'CUSE BEATS NATIONAL CHAMPS
• Serra Degnan scored two of the Orange's four first-half goals that led Syracuse to a 4-0 shutout victory vs. defending national champion and sixth-ranked Princeton on Sept. 22 at J.S. Coyne Stadium. The win ran the Orange's home winning streak to 39 games, dating back to 2009.
• Degnan, a freshman from Wyoming, Pa., netted the first two goals of her collegiate career, while Leonie Geyer and Alyssa Manley also scored for Syracuse, which rebounded well from its first defeat of the season, 6-3 at No. 17 Boston College on Friday.
• The Orange used a dominating performance in the opening half, outshooting the Tigers, 8-2, and scoring all four goals between the 10th and 27th minutes.
CLIMBING THE ALL-TIME CHARTS
• Leonie Geyer continues to climb the Syracuse all-time assists list. She currently ranks third in career helpers in the program history with 36.
• Her assist on Sept. 20 at BC moved her past Shelley Magee's (1990-93) 35 assists into third place. Next up is Maggie Befort's (2007-11) 48.
• Geyer's 94 career points are tied for fourth-most in Syracuse history with Julie Williamson (1991-94) and Yvonne Milionis (1988-91). Next up is Lindsey Conrad (2008-10) at 112.
