ST. THOMAS, U.S.V.I. - Brianna Butler matched her career-high with 23 points to lead Syracuse women's basketball (7-0) to a 77-58 victory over Memphis (3-4) on day two of the Paradise Jam on Friday night at the UVI Sports & Fitness Center in St. Thomas. The Orange used runs of 22-2 and 15-0 to remain unbeaten on the season.

The sophomore guard shot 5-of-7 from 3-point range to lead all scorers, while her classmate and backcourt mate, Brittney Sykes, added 18 points, six rebounds and a team-high five assists. Taylor Ford rounded out the three Orange sophomores in double figures with 10 points, all during a key 22-2 first-half run that put SU in control of the game.

Shakeya Leary had a near double-double with nine points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

Syracuse concludes play at the Paradise Jam on Saturday when it faces No. 12/11 Texas A&M (4-1) at 8:15 p.m. ET. The game will be webcast live on YouTube Live Sports and ParadiseJam.com.

Syracuse shot 45.2 percent overall, including 7-of-17 from 3-point range, while limiting Memphis to 37.5 percent shooting. The Orange also controlled the glass, out-rebounding the Tigers, 43-32.

Memphis jumped out to an early 8-2 lead over the first two and a half minutes, but the Orange then went on a 22-2 run over the next 4:21 to establish control. Ford scored 10 points, including back-to-back 3-pointers, during the run that was capped off by a Sykes layup at the 11:45 mark that gave Syracuse a 24-10 lead.

The Tigers ran off nine-straight points midway through the half to pull within five, 26-21, at the 6:36 mark, but Brianna Butler scored 10 points over the duration of the half as the Orange outscored Memphis, 19-9, to take a 45-30 lead into the locker room.

Memphis pulled within 11, 51-40, on a Asianna Fuqua-Bey (14 points) layup with 16:40 left in the second half, but Syracuse held the Tigers scoreless for the next 3:59 as it scored 15-straight points to take its largest lead of the game, 66-40, on a Sykes layup with 12:37 to go.

The Orange would go on to cruise to victory from there, receiving contributions off the bench as 10 players scored points and SU's bench out-scored the Tiger's reserves, 25-8.
