ALBANY, N.Y. - Laura Hahnefeldt, Alyssa Manley and Emma Russell scored a goal each to lead No. 5 Syracuse field hockey (8-1) to a 3-0 victory vs. No. 6 Stanford (6-2) on Saturday afternoon at Albany's Alumni Field.

The Orange's three goals mark the most allowed this season by the Cardinal, which came into the game with the NCAA's top-ranked defense and four-straight shutouts.

Syracuse's attacking penalty corner unit remained sharp, scoring two of the team's three goals, while the Orange enjoyed a 10-8 shot advantage and Stanford held the edge in penalty corners, 6-4.

Sophomore Jess Jecko made two saves to earn her eighth win of the season, while Stanford's Dulcie Davies made six saves.

Hahnefeldt started the scoring in the 19th minute when she converted on a penalty corner, scoring her first of the season on assists by Jordan Page and Russell.

Manley sent the Orange into halftime with a 2-0 lead, scoring her sixth goal of the season with 1:25 left, knocking in the rebound off a Davies save of the initial shot by Leonie Geyer.

Syracuse maintained its 2-0 lead through most of the second half until Alex McCawley scored on a penalty corner for Stanford, drawing the Cardinal within one, 2-1, with 10:17 remaining.

Russell put the game out of doubt with 5:49 left, scoring on a nice spin move following a pass through the circle from Lauren Brooks, making it 3-1. The goal was the sophomore's sixth of the season.

Syracuse returns home to host a pair of games at J.S. Coyne Stadium next weekend. On Saturday, the Orange welcomes No. 4 Virginia for a 1 p.m. game, SU's first home ACC game. On Sunday, Monmouth comes to town for a non-conference game that starts at 2 p.m.
