SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse track and field team travels to University Park this weekend for the Penn State National Invitational. Events will take place over two days at the Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track beginning on Friday at 4 p.m. and on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

Last weekend the Orange traveled to Ithaca, N.Y. for the Cornell Upstate Invitational and Boston, Mass. for the BU Terrier Invitational.

In Boston, Jaquan Holland sprinted to third place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.09, matching his school-record set during the 2012-2013 indoor track and field season. Bria Goodson and Rebecca Robinson finished fourth place with a time of 24.26 and seventh place with a time of 24.50, respectively, in the 200-meter dash. Robinson also competed in the 400-meter dash, capturing fifth place with a time of 55.32. All three athletes achieved ACC and IC4A/ECAC qualifiers in every event they competed in.

Syracuse captured gold in six events at the Cornell Upstate Challenge including Donald Pollitt in the 60-meter hurdles, Max Straneva in the men's mile run, Shaina Harrison in the 60-meter dash, Margo Malone in the women's mile run, Regine Hunter in the triple jump, and Joel Hubbard in the 1000-meter run. In the team competition, the women took fourth place with a total of 66 points, and the men took third place with a total of 79 points.

Last year, Syracuse earned multiple conference championship and IC4A/ECAC qualifiers at the 2013 Penn State National Invitational. Andrew Palmer took first place in the 5000-meter with a time of 14:15.22 and Brenna Symoniak won the unseeded section of the 3000-meter run with a time of 9:49.30. Lauren Penney also set the school record in the women's mile run, finishing in second place with a time of 4:37.41.

The meet will be hosted by Penn State University, whose men's track and field team is currently ranked seventh in the NCAA by USTFCCCA. Other top-25 ranked schools in the men's competition include No. 20 Stanford. In attendance from the women's top-25 will be No. 9 Stanford, No. 13 Dartmouth, No. 15 South Carolina, No. 20 Georgetown and No. 23 Villanova.
