Hurff Named ACC Player of the Week

Led team with three goals on the weekend
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Freshman midfielder Laura Hurff of the No. 10 Syracuse field hockey team was named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Player of the Week, as announced by the ACC league office on Tuesday afternoon. Hurff became the first Orange to take home such honors this season.

Last weekend, Hurff led Syracuse to victories against then-No. 5 Louisville and Cornell. The Newark, Del. native tallied three goals in two days to propel the Orange.

On Saturday morning against Louisville, Hurff tallied a career-best two goals to lead SU to a 3-1 victory. It marked the club's first win against a nationally ranked opponent in 2014 and its first victory in conference play on the campaign.

Hurff came out scoring again on Sunday afternoon at Cornell. She tallied her fourth goal in four games against the Big Red, leading the team to a 5-0 win.

Syracuse is back in action on Saturday afternoon when it takes on No. 13 Wake Forest on the road. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m. in Winston-Salem, N.C.
