Orange to Host NCAA First and Second Rounds

Syracuse was named the No. 4 overall seed in the NCAA Field Hockey Championship.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - For the second straight season, the Syracuse University field hockey team will serve as a host for the first and second rounds of the 2014 NCAA Tournament as the tournament's fourth seed. Syracuse will play Boston University in the first round of the national tournament at J.S. Coyne Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 11:30 a.m.

It marks the program's 10th NCAA Tournament appearance and seventh under head coach Ange Bradley. Syracuse has advanced to the national tournament every year since 2008. Tickets for adults are $6, while tickets for students with institutional identification cards or individuals 18 and under are $3.

Following the Syracuse-Boston University first-round matchup, Boston College will take on Penn State at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The winners of the two first-round contests will meet in the quarterfinals on Sunday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m., with a trip to the Final Four in College Park, Md. on the line. The national semifinals will be held on Friday, Nov. 21 and the national champion will be decided on Sunday, Nov. 23.

The Orange and Boston University will meet for the 15th time in series history in the first round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament. It marks the first time the two have met in the NCAA Tournament. Syracuse holds a 9-5 advantage in the series and has taken the past three meetings.

Most recently, Syracuse advanced to its first-ever Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championship final, suffering a 2-0 setback to Wake Forest.
