Tennis Continues Road Swing At Harvard

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's tennis team continues its road trip to start the 2014 season with a match at Harvard at Murr Center on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 11:30 a.m.

LAST TIME OUT:
Despite falling 4-0 at Ohio State last weekend, a pair of freshman - Valeria Salazar and Rhiann Newborn - both lead their respective matches that went unfinished. Junior Amanda Rodgers was also making a run in the second set at first singles when the match ended.

KOBELT CHASING THE CENTURY CLUB:
Senior co-captain Maddie Kobelt has one victory under her belt in the 2014 season and needs just 10 more to reach 100 career triumphs and become the 29th member of the Century Club. Last season, Kobelt earned All-BIG EAST Team honors with an overall record of 15-9 in singles and 15-8 in doubles.

SCOUTING THE CRIMSON:
Harvard enters the match as the 66th ranked team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Having defeated Boston University 4-0 on Saturday, Feb. 8, the Crimson moved to 3-1 on the season. Spencer Liang and Monica Lin are ranked 34th nationally in doubles action. Both players also earned spots in the Northeast Regional singles ranking with Lin coming in at eighth and Liang at 13th. Amy He also grabbed a spot in the regional rankings at 15th.

SERIES HISTORY
Harvard leads the all-time series with a 6-4 record. The squads have met in each of the last two year with the Crimson taking the match in 2013 6-1 while SU posted a 4-3 victory in 2012, both in Cambridge. In both meetings, Rodgers notched victories in both singles and doubles competition.

UP NEXT:
Following a week off, Syracuse opens Atlantic Coast Conference play at NC State on Friday, Feb. 21 and at Duke on Sunday, Feb. 23.
