ATLANTA – The nationally-ranked No. 68 Syracuse tennis team was swept at No. 32 Georgia Tech, 7-0, on Sunday, April 13 at Ken Byers Tennis Complex.
After winning four of seven matches, the Orange (4-13, 4-8) have now lost three straight, whereas, Georgia Tech (11-7, 8-4) has won its last three.
SU couldn't get anything going in doubles action, falling 8-1 on both the first and second courts as the Yellow Jackets took the first point of the match. Senior Maddie Kobelt and freshman Valeria Salazar were looking to replicate their performance from Friday after knocking off the 12th-ranked doubles team from Clemson. The duo faced fifth-ranked Megan Kurey and Kendal Woodard, but was dispatched with relative ease.
Five of the six singles matches were settled in straight sets for Georgia Tech wins. The only one that went into a third set was the matchup between Kobelt and Woodard at first singles, with Woodward winning the tiebreaker, 6-2, 3-6, 10-8.
The Orange close out the regular season with a pair of home tilts next weekend. SU hosts No. 66 Wake Forest on Friday, April 18 at 11 a.m. and No. 26 Notre Dame on Saturday, April 19 at 1 p.m.
