Pollitt Wins 110m Hurdles Title in Final Day of ACC Championship

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—Syracuse finished with two individual champions at its first-ever ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships as Donald Pollitt captured the 110-meter hurdles title on the final day of competition.
The men's team finished sixth in the final standings with 72 points while the women's team took 11th with 36 points.
Pollitt ran the 110-meter hurdles in 13.81 seconds to beat out fellow Orange Freddie Crittenden, who finished in second in 13.94, for the title. Amadou Gueye and Darren McCluskey also scored for 'Cuse in the event taking fourth place and seventh place, respectively.
Martin Hehir had another impressive day, taking second place in the 5,000-meter run after winning the 10,000-meter on Thursday night. Hehir's time of 14:01.82 was less than one second behind the ACC Champion. Max Straneva also tallied a point in the same race, taking eighth in 14:12.43.
On the women's side, Margo Malone had a third-place finish in the 5,000-meter run in a persona record time of 16:18.53. She also took third place in the 10,000-meter run on Thursday night. Jessie Petersen also scored for the Orange with a seventh place finish in 16:30.05.
Shaina Harrison won silver in the 100-meter dash with a personal record time of 11.64 seconds. Sabrina Cammock also earned points in the event with an eighth-place finish in 11.98.
Rebecca Robinson rounded out individual Orange point-scorers, taking seventh place in the 400-meter dash in 55.62.
Both the men's and women's 4x100-meter relay teams finished in fourth place in their races to earn five points each toward the team totals.
Regine Hunter competed in the women's triple jump, taking ninth place with a leap of 12.11 meters.
Syracuse continues its season next week at the Penn Relays, which begin Tuesday, April 22.
