SU Track Takes Home Five Gold Medals

ITHACA, N.Y., PHILADELPHIA—The Syracuse track and field team finished up competition at two races this weekend, with members traveling to the Penn Relays and the Big Red Invitational. Ten Orange set personal records this weekend and five ran to first-place finishes.
Donald Pollitt led Syracuse at the Penn Relays, finishing second in the 110-meter hurdles in 13.73 seconds. Freddie Crittenden had a personal best time of 13.89 seconds in the event, taking fourth place overall.
In the field events, Reggie Morton finished in sixth place in the long jump with a leap of 6.97 meters while Regine Hunter finished in third place in the triple jump with a mark of 11.99 meters.
On Sunday, five SU competitors finished in first place at the Cornell meet. Paul Lovell had a personal best time of 1:54.75 in the 800-meter run to win the race while Molly Malone collected gold on the women's side in 2:10.89.
Joel Hubbard earned gold in the 1,500-meter run, finishing in 3:59.88. Syracuse swept the top four in the event with Kevyn Hoyos finishing in second, Ryan Urie in third and Andrew Bennison in fourth, all within one tenth of a second of each other.
Angelica Peck and Brenna Symoniak went one, two in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing with times of 11:10.62 and 11:14.74, respectively. In the 3,000-meter run, Beth Wright ran a personal record time of 10:04.62 to take third place and Rebecca Skodis finished in fourth, also with a career-best time of 10:11.02.
Jaquan Holland rounded out the first-place finishers with a win in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 21.53 seconds. Clay Austin, Reggie Morton and Darren McCluskey finished fourth through sixth with McCluskey finishing in a personal record time of 22.56 seconds. He also took fourth in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.59 seconds.
Sydney Leiher finished in second place in the 1,500-meter run in 4:33.43 and Haley Cutright and Bridget Twomey each collected personal records in the event for fourth and 19th-place finishes.
The Orange picks up competition on May 2-3 at the Cornell Outdoor Invitational and May 4 at the Payton Jordan Invitational, hosted by Stanford.
