Two-Time All-County Player Signs With SU

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse volleyball team picked up its third student-athlete in the class of 2014 last week when Christina Oyawale signed her National Letter of Intent, head coach Leonid Yelin announced on Monday, April 28.
"Christina is a great athlete. She's probably one of the best athletes I've worked with," said head coach Yelin. "She has a great personality and she will fit perfectly with the team. She is the kind of person everyone would love to have on their team."
Oyawale, comes to Syracuse from New Carrollton, Md., where she was a three year member on the Parkdale High School volleyball team. As a junior and senior, she was named All-Gazette First Team for Prince Georges County and was the only repeat performer on the first team. During her senior campaign, Oyawale compiled 157 kills and 38 blocks in leading Parkdale to a 10-4 record. For her junior season, she finished with 111 kills (8.5 per match), 78 blocks (6.0) and averaged four aces per match.
A 6-3 middle blocker/outside hitter, Oyawale also plays with the Evolution Volleyball Club.
