The meeting between Ohio State and Syracuse will be a showdown between two teams thriving with four straight wins each. Ohio State began the season with their only two losses of the season. The Buckeyes first loss came in a three-set loss to Oregon with the second immediately following in a five-set grind against Illinois State. History is not in the favor of the Orange as the only time these two have met resulted in a SU loss back in 1991. However, this will be a battle between two of the best blocking teams in the country. Ohio State sits at second in the Big East and 11th in the nation with 3.04 blocks per set while Syracuse is atop the ACC and ranked second in the nation in the category with 3.35 blocks per set.

Saturday, September 13 at 4:30 PM – Ohio (3-3) | Live Stats
Don't let Ohio's 3-3 record fool you as two of the three Bobcat losses have come against ranked opponents. To open the season, the Bobcats fell to #17 Hawaii in three straight sets. Ohio's second loss of the season came just a day later against #25 Arizona State in a five set showdown. The next game Ohio had on its slate was against Texas A&M who made quick work of the Bobcats, sending them to the locker room after three sets.
The Orange has not beaten the Bobcats in their history that includes just one game back in 2008. Due to the strength of schedule Ohio has endured thus far, they do not rank high in the Mid-American Conference. However, last year the Bobcats enjoyed a 27-6 record overall and ran through the conference finishing with a 14-2 record with a nod to the NCAA Tournament. Ohio was bounced in the first round after a loss to #20 Michigan State.
Where Do We Stand?
With the help of wins over Illinois-Chicago, Chicago State and DePaul last weekend, SU has now made its mark in ACC and National standings.
Silvi Uattara continued to dominate on attack, recording the most kills in a match by an ACC player this season with 28. Her 4.43 kills per set seats her atop the ACC and her 102 kills is tied for the most in the conference with Kristin Faust of Clemson.
Also breaking out in the game against Illinois-Chicago was Leah Levert. The freshman recorded 11 blocks in the game which stands as the most blocks recorded by any ACC student-athlete in a single contest. Her 1.43 blocks per set ranks her seventh in the conference.
The team leader in blocks is Lindsay McCabe who stands as the conference's best in blocks per set with 1.70. The average ranks her seventh in the country and contributes to SU's 3.35 blocks per set which stands as the second best average in the country behind BYU with 3.70.
In her second weekend as the team's setter, Gosia Wlaszczuk continued to thrive as she has now cracked the ACC standings and sits in 10th with 7.30 assist per set. Wlaszczuk has been a dual-threat setter for the Orange as she has attempted 71 kills and has recorded a point on 27 of those tries. Her 71 kills is as many as the ACC leader in hitting percentage.
