SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse volleyball team continues ACC play this weekend, hosting a pair of matches against Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech. The Orange faces the Panthers on Friday at 7 p.m. at home in the Women's Building. The Orange then welcomes the Hokies on Sunday afternoon in a match that will be broadcast live on ESPN3, beginning at 1 p.m.
Friday's game against Pittsburgh is the Orange's annual Pink Game in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The first 100 fans at the Women's Building will receive free pink breast cancer awareness wristbands.
The Orange currently stand fourth in the ACC, posting a 3-1 ACC record so far on the 2015 season. Syracuse experienced a major jump in the RPI rankings this week, rising 130 spots from last season from 201 to 71.
SCOUTING PITTSBURGH (12-4, 2-2 ACC)
The Orange and the Panthers meet again in a series that dates back to 1982. The two teams have met every year since the 1985 season, and are meeting for the fifth time as ACC rivals. Pittsburgh leads the all-time series with a record of 34-10. Syracuse looks to snap a three-game Pitt winning streak within the series.
The Panthers return six starters from last season, including middle hitter Amanda Orchard, who was an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American and an AVCA First Team All-Region honoree. Pittsburgh currently sits sixth in the ACC standings, posting a 2-2 ACC record and a 12-4 overall record. The squad recorded a major 3-0 win against ACC powerhouse North Carolina during the first weekend of ACC action, and also posted a win against NC State the same weekend.
SCOUTING VIRGINIA TECH (11-5, 2-2 ACC)
The Orange and the Hokies meet for the seventh time overall since 1993, with Virginia Tech leading the all-time series, 5-1. Virginia Tech leads Syracuse 2-0 since both squads joined the ACC in 2013.
The Hokies return seven letterwinners and three starters from last season, including All-ACC honoree Lindsey Owens. Virginia Tech currently sits eighth in the ACC standings, posting a 2-2 ACC record and an 11-5 overall record. Entering the third weekend of ACC action, Virginia Tech has wins so far over NC State and Pittsburgh and losses to North Carolina and Virginia.

Syracuse faces Boston College for the second time this season next Wednesday, Oct. 14, matching up against the Eagles at 5 p.m. in Chestnut Hill, Mass. The Orange then return home next Sunday, Oct. 18, taking on the Virginia Cavaliers at 1 p.m.
