Syracuse leads wire-to-wire in seventh win of the year
SYRACUSE, N.Y – The RV/RV Syracuse University women's basketball team recorded a 65-49 victory against Jacksonville on Monday night in the Carrier Dome. Syracuse led wire-to-wire in its seventh win of the 2015-16 season.

"I thought in the second half our kids did a very good job of being aggressive," head coach Quentin Hillsman stated. "We did a very good job of keeping pressure on them and doing the things we do well."

The Orange (7-3, 0-0) opened the game with a 15-6 advantage against the Dolphins (6-6, 0-0), thanks to four 3-point field goals from junior forward Isabella Slim, senior guard Brianna Butler, and junior guard Alexis Peterson. Syracuse matched a season-high with eight 3-pointers in the first half of competition, en route to a 38-22 halftime edge.

Jacksonville kept it close until an Orange run that spanned the end of the third quarter and the start of the final frame. Syracuse outscored JU, 16-1, to take a 63-36 lead with 6:06 remaining in regulation. SU coasted the rest of the way to a 16-point victory.

Senior guard Brianna Butler scored a season-high 16 points on the night. The nation's active career leader in 3-point field goals made knocked down her first three 3-point field goal attempts. Butler is nine points shy of passing Beth Record for ninth on the Syracuse all-time scoring list.

Redshirt junior guard Brittney Sykes tallied the team's first double-double of the 2015-16 campaign on Monday. Sykes tallied 11 points and 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of her collegiate career.
