LEXINGTON, Ky. - Syracuse volleyball standout Silvi Uattara has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division I East Region Team announced on Tuesday. The nod marks the second time Uattara has been recognized by the AVCA, earning East Region honorable mention honors during her sophomore campaign in 2013.
Uattara is the fourth volleyball student-athlete in the history of the program to be named to an AVCA All-Region team, including the first to receive the honor in 10 years. Former standout Kelly Duan was the last student-athlete to earn AVCA All-Region recognition in 2005 and went on to receive AVCA All-American honors that same season.
The outside hitter finished the 2015 season with a team-high 374 kills and All-ACC First Team honors. Her 374 kills led the Orange to its best season in 11 years, concluding the 2015 season with a fourth-place finish in the ACC with a 23-8 record and 14-6 conference record. The Voronezh, Russia native's 1,549 kills throughout her four seasons at Syracuse places her third in program history in career kills and third in all-time kills per set (3.50).
Uattara, along with the rest of the selections from the 10 regions, will be placed on another ballot to determine the AVCA All-America teams.
