Track Competes in Two Meets

Orange take on Boston Valentines Day Invite and Spire Division I Invite
The Syracuse track and field teams competed at a pair of events this weekend, with a contingent of distance runners taking on the Boston Valentine's Day Invite and the sprinters heading to the Spire Division I Invitational.

At the Spire meet in Geneva, Ohio, Shaina Harrison placed second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.41, two tenths of a second behind her season-best time of 7.39 at the Penn State National.
Freshman Sofia Mossberg continued the strong start to her career, placing fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.49.

In the men's 60-hurdles, Donald Pollitt took third, racing to a time of 7.81, just two tenths off his best time of the season thus far, which he set at the Gotham Cup on opening weekend. Pollitt was the top-collegiate finisher in the event.

In the men's high jump, Jabari Butler leaped 2.06 meters, a jump that was good for third place. In the long jump, Reggie Morton took seventh, finishing at 7.05 meters.

Pascal Bastien jumped 13.31 meters in the triple jump, which was good for sixth.

In Boston, Joel Hubbard led the Orange men, racing to a 4:00.18 time in the mile, just one week after Martin Hehir and Justyn Knight went sub-four minutes in the event. Hubbard took 13th.
Colin Bennie took 15th in the men's 3,000-meters with a time of 8:07.25.
On the women's side, the distance medley relay team of Haley Cutright, Gabriella Kreuz, Molly Malone and Margo Malone took second with a time of 11:33.01.

Margo Malone ran a solid race on her own earlier in the meet, taking seventh in the 3,000-meters after finishing the event in a time of 9:16.11. Maura Linde took 15th in the event with a time of 9:37.88.

Molly Malone also turned in a strong individual performance in the 800, taking 12th with a time of 2:09.67.

Syracuse also had a pair of top-20 finishes in the 5k, with Rebecca Skodis (17:10.99/14th) and Fiona Hendry (17:27.71/18th) competing for the Orange.

Next up for Syracuse is the Marc Denault Invitational at Cornell next weekend before the ACC Championships in Blacksburg, Va. the following weekend.
