Orange score twice in final-seven minutes
For the second-straight game, the No. 2 Syracuse field hockey team fell behind an ACC rival 2-0 in the first half, and once again rebounded to win and stay undefeated on the year.
The Orange (6-0, 2-0 ACC) defeated No. 11 Boston College (4-3, 0-1 ACC) behind a pair of goals in the final-seven minutes to seal a 3-2 road victory.
"BC played a really good game of hockey," said head coach Ange Bradley. "I'm proud of how we battled and that we were able to come away with the win today."
After falling behind 2-0 in just over 25 minutes. Emma Russell pulled the Orange back to within with the help of an assist from Emma Lamison. Russell's goal tied Lindsey Conrad for the program record for career goals at 47.
Russell's goal came with 1:17 to play in the half and sent 'Cuse to the locker room trailing by one.
After scoreless play for the majority of the second half, Alma Fenne notched the equalizer with just-6:33 to play. She deflected a ball into the top-corner of the net to even things up after initially starting the play by sending the ball in on Eagles goalkeeper Leah Settipane.
Then after continued pressure, it was Lamison who won it for the Orange with 30 seconds left in regulation. The Liverpool, N.Y. native took the ball in the left hand side, dodged a defender and beat Settipane for the game-winner.
"It was a really heads-up play by Emma," Bradley said. "It was really a great moment that she was able to finish that goal."
Syracuse outshot the Eagles 14-11 on the day, with Jess Jecko making three saves for the Orange.
'Cuse will now have a quick turnaround, as the team squares off with Yale on Sunday at 2 p.m.
