SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse volleyball team looks to extend its winning streak while opening ACC play this weekend, taking on Boston College and Clemson. Syracuse will face Boston College in a home match on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Women's Building. The Orange then head South for the rest of the weekend, matching up against the Tigers on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Jervey Gymnasium in Clemson, S.C.
SCOUTING BOSTON COLLEGE (8-4, 0-0 ACC)
This will be the 37th meeting between the Orange and the Eagles. Syracuse leads the all-time series with a 28-8 record, with the first match between the two programs taking place during the 1982 season. The Orange are looking to snap a two-game losing streak within the series, with the Eagles winning the last two games 3-0 and 3-1 during the 2014 season.
Boston College returns four starters and 10 letterwinners from last season. Syracuse and Boston College are both on four-game winning streaks heading into ACC play, with Boston College winning its latest matchups against New Hampshire, Northeastern, UConn, and Harvard.
Katty Workman, Sol Calvete, and Julia Topor are the Eagles' top three leaders in kills with 168, 121, and 107, respectively. Workman's 4.20 kills per set ranks second best in the ACC.
SCOUTING CLEMSON (5-7, 0-0 ACC)
This will be the sixth meeting between the Orange and the Tigers since the first matchup in 1990. Clemson leads the all-time series with a 3-2 record, with the Orange looking to balance out the all-time series record after losing to the Tigers 3-1 last season.
At a 5-7 overall record, Clemson heads into ACC play with wins coming over Charleston Southern, Winthrop, East Tennessee State, Presbyterian College, and USC Upstate. Leah Perri and Kailey Harvell sit atop the Clemson leaderboard in kills on the season, with Perri posting 165 kills so far on the season and Harvell adding 135 kills.
