'Cuse vs. Boston University
- For the third year in a row and 17th time overall, Syracuse will face off with Boston University on Sunday.
- The Orange control the series history between the two sides with a record of 11-5, including wins in each of the last five matchups with the Terriers.
- In last year's game, a 5-1 victory for the Orange, Roos Weers led the way with a career high three goals, two of which came on penalty corners. Lies Lagerweij added an assist in the win as well.
ACC Up for Grabs
- With the other six teams in the conference wrapping up conference play this weekend, the Syracuse field hockey team awaits its fate when it comes to seeding in the ACC Tournament.
- Depending on various tiebreaking scenarios, the Orange could end up anywhere from second to fourth in the standings, with other teams having potential swings of five places depeding on the weekend results.
- After head-to-head record, goal differential in conference play is the second tiebreaker.Â
- At the start of the weekend, the Orange sit in second and hold a head-to-head tiebreaker with top-seed Duke, who's currently 4-1 in league play with Saturday's game vs. North Carolina looming. North Carolina and Virginia can catch SU with wins this weekend and both would own tiebreakers over the Orange. In that case, UNC would be the No. 1 seed and goal differential in league play would decide 2-4. If North Carolina wins and UVA loses, Syracuse would be the No. 3. If Duke wins and Virginia wins, Syracuse would be the No. 4. If Duke wins and Virginia loses, Syracuse would be the No. 3.
- Potential opponents will also be decided using the same tiebreaking procedures. The No. 1 seed gets an automatic bye to the semifinals. The No. 2 seed plays the No. 7 seed, No. 3 plays No. 6 and No 4 plays No. 5 in the quarterfinals.
Current ACC Standings
- The Orange currently sit alone in second place with Duke maintaining the top spot by itself.
- North Carolina and Virginia are tied for what would be the No. 3 seed if the season ended today, both owning 3-2 records overall.
- Louisville and Boston College sit in a tie for fifth.
- Wake Forest currently occupies the No. 7 spot.
