
Salazar, Knutson Advance to Semifinals of National Indoor Championship

FLUSHING, N.Y. – After winning the Intercollegiate Tennis Assocation Northeast Regional doubles title, the Syracuse duo of Valeria Salazar and Gabriela Knutson have advanced to the semifinals of the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championship.
Salazar and Knutson defeated the fourth-seeded Mayar Ahmed and Christine Maddox of Pepperdine University in the quarterfinals of the tournament 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the final four. The pair will face Mami Adachi and Aldila Sutjiadi from the University of Kentucky on Saturday.
In their first match of the tournament, Salazar and Knutson won 6-3, 6-4 against Olivia Hauger and Karla Popovic of California University.
On the other side of the bracket, Jade Hart and Ena Shibahara of UCLA will face Vladica Babic and Carla Tur Mari of Oklahoma State.
