11/8/2016 10:47:00 AM | Field Hockey
The Syracuse field hockey team will enter the NCAA Tournament ranked third in the final Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches' Poll – the same mark as its tournament seed.
The Orange received 594 points and one first place vote in the poll. Top-seeded Duke also occupies the No. 1 spot in the poll, earning 680 points and 25 first place votes, followed by Maryland (605 points), with North Carolina (590 points) and Penn State (583 points, four first place votes) behind the Orange rounding out the top-five.
No. 6 UConn (581 points, three first place votes) and No. 7 Virginia (537 points, three first place votes) also received votes to be No. 1 in the poll.
COMPLETE POLL
This is the 99th-straight poll that Syracuse has appeared in, including 27 consecutive weeks in the top-10.
The Orange host No. 15 Harvard in the NCAA Tournament opener on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are available at the door at a cost of $6 for adults and $3 for youth. Due to Saturday's football game, parking for the general public will be limited in the Manley Field House lots and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Overflow parking will be directed to the Skytop Lots, with busses available to transport fans to and from J.S. Coyne Stadium. Due to this fact, fans are encouraged to arrive early, with gates opening at 10 a.m.
No. 6 UConn and No. 11 Boston College will square off at 2 p.m. in Saturday's other contest at J.S. Coyne Stadium, with ticketing and parking information being the same as the Syracuse matchup. Fans interested in attending both games do not need to purchase an additional ticket as the stadium will not be cleared between games.
The winners of those two first round games will square off on Sunday at 2 p.m. for a berth in the final four. All-three games this weekend will be streamed live on Cuse.TV.
