SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The No. 23/18 Syracuse University women's basketball team will host No. 10/9 Florida State in its regular season home finale on Thursday night in the Carrier Dome. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. Brianna Butler, Cornelia Fondren, Taylor Ford, Maggie Morrison, Aliyah Parris, and Brittney Sykes will all be recognized prior to the game.
Tickets can be purchased online, by phone at 1-888-DOMETIX, or by visiting the Carrier Dome box office (Gate B) during normal business hours.
Thursday's game will be televised on the Regional Sports Networks and Tom Werme (pbp) and Debbie Antonelli (analyst) will be on the call. Brian Higgins '04 (pbp) will be on the call live on the Syracuse IMG Sports Network. As always, follow @CuseWBB on Twitter for live in-game updates.
In their last contest, the Orange used a late rally to defeat NC State, 55-52, on the road on Feb. 14. Junior guard Alexis Peterson led the team with 16 points on the day. Peterson scored nine points in the final four minutes of play to seal the game.
Florida State enters Thursday's game with a 21-4 overall record and 11-1 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference play. The Seminoles rank No. 10/9 nationally in the latest release of the two major national polls. In its last game, FSU defeated North Carolina, 94-63, on Feb. 14.
Class of 2016
Syracuse's senior class entered as one of the nation's top recruiting classes in 2012. Butler and Sykes were the program's third and fourth McDonald's All-Americans, spearheading a class that was ranked No. 6 nationally by the Dan Olson Collegiate Girls' Basketball Report.
Since joining the program, Syracuse has won 89 contests and appeared in the NCAA Tournament every year. The group has won 72.4 percent of its games, the top winning percentage in school history. SU has won its first two contests in the NCAA Tournament, as well.
The senior class has been a driving force in that time. The group has earned three all-conference recognitions and been ranked in the top 25 of the Associated Press Poll for 35 weeks during their careers.
Last Time Out
Syracuse used a late rally to record a 55-52 victory at NC State on Feb. 14 in Holliday Gymnasium at Broughton High School. With the win, Syracuse became the 10th program in the nation to win at least 20 games, seven years in-a-row.
Down four points with 3:49 remaining in regulation, Syracuse outscored NC State, 10-3, to record its 10th victory in Atlantic Coast Conference play this season. An 8-0 run by Peterson gave the Orange the lead for good.
Syracuse overcame a tough start with a strong third-quarter performance. The Orange outscored its opposition by seven points in the third frame to take a one-point advantage into the final 10 minutes of play. Junior center Briana Day, a Raleigh, N.C. native, had 10 points in that span.
Peterson led the club in scoring for the second straight game and 13th time this year, notching 16 points on the day. Heading into the team's next contest, the Columbus, Ohio product is 23 points shy of becoming the program's 26th 1,000-point scorer.
