GREENSBORO, N.C. - Syracuse volleyball student-athletes Nicolette Serratore and Santita Ebangwese were named to the 2015 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Volleyball Team announced on Monday. Serratore, a redshirt senior, earned her degree in chemical engineering, while freshman Ebangwese is currently undeclared. The nod marks Serratore's second conference academic honor and Ebangwese's first honor.
During her final season for the Orange, Serratore led the team in service aces (55) and aces per set (0.27). The multidimensional player also landed second on the team in digs (345) and kills (336). The Oakville, Ontario native tallied her 1,000th career kill this past season, finishing her Orange career with 1,055 kills, 933 digs, and 105 service aces.
Ebangwese finished her rookie campaign earning ACC All-Freshman Team honors while starting all 31 matches for the Orange this past season. The Rochester, N.Y. native ranked second on the team in blocks (145) and blocks per set (1.21), helping the Orange to a best-in-the-nation team average in blocks per set (3.12) and total blocks (374.5). Her career-high 12 blocks against NC State earned her ACC Freshman of the Week honors (11/9), while placing her at fourth in the Syracuse record books for blocks in a four-set match.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
