
#41 'Cuse Hosts #4 UNC Today

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The No. 41 Syracuse women's tennis team welcomes No. 4 North Carolina this Thursday in Atlantic Coast Conference play to start off a three-game home stand. The Orange and Tar Heels will face off today at 2:30 p.m. at Drumlins Country Club.
Syracuse (8-5, 2-5 ACC) is coming off a tough stretch in ACC play. The Orange endured four road games over the span of 10 days, each against a nationally-ranked ACC opponent. Freshmen Dina Hegab and Gabriela Knutson come into the contest both posting 9-3 overall singles records, and 4-3 records in ACC play.
Graduate student Anna Shukdun is 8-5 overall in singles, while freshman Maria Tritou is 6-6 so far this season. Doubles partners Gabriela Knutson and Valeria Salazar will also look to keep strong as they are 6-2 overall and 5-2 in ACC play.
SCOUTING NORTH CAROLINA
The Tar Heels are heading into the match returning from a trip to Puerto Rico where they defeated Denison and Navy both by a final of 7-0.
Junior Hayley Carter is on her 3rd straight week as the No. 1 ranked player in the country. She has been ranked in the top 10 the whole season. Carter alongside senior Whitney Kay rank as the No. 1 doubles pair in the nation. Kay is ranked as the 29th best singles players in the nation, while freshman Jessie Aney is listed as the 53rd best.
