Track Takes on Pair of Weekend Events

The Syracuse distance group will take on one of the historically fastest collegiate events in the country at the Payton Jordan Invitational at Stanford, while a number of sprinters will stay close to home at Cornell's Big Red Challenge this weekend.
Last Weekend
- Syracuse competed at four different meets last weekend, highlighted by the Virginia Challenge and Auburn War Eagle Invitational.
- Freddie Crittenden III set a new personal best in the 110-meter hurdles at the Auburn War Eagle Invitational, which is the third-best time this season in the event and is 0.04 seconds off the school record.
- Justyn Knight set a new school record in the 1500-meters, breaking his own record, at the Virginia Challenge during a second-place finish.
- Adam Palamar (fifth) also turned in a stellar performance in the 1500, with a time of 3:40.49.
- Colin Bennie took fourth in the 5k at Virginia, with a time of 13:54.77.
- Shaina Harrison took seventh in the 100-meter dash (11.79 seconds).

Last Time at Payton Jordan
- Justyn Knight posted what was the sixth-fastest 5k time nationally (13:34.86), which was good for second place. He edged out teammate Martin Hehir (13:35.70), who finished third in the event.
- Knight's time shattered a 25-year old school record and set a new Canadian Junior record in the process.
- Joel Hubbard (14:06.62), Colin Bennie (14:08.20) and Philo Germano (14:16.89) also turned in strong 5k performances for the men.
- Sydney Leiher highlighted the races for the women, taking 10th in the 3000-meter steeplechase (10:27.10).
Last Year at the Big Red Invitational
- The Orange got a win from former standout Donald Pollitt in the 110-meter hurdles (13.59 seconds). Pollitt will be in the field this weekend as well.
- Danielle Delgado and Regine Hunter took third and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles, respectively.
- Rebecca Robinson finished second in the 400-meters as well, with a time of 53.95 seconds. Shasche Allen was right behind in seventh.
The meets get underway on Sunday.
