LOOKING TO CONTINUE HISTORY
- Head coach Chris Fox has the Orange on a historic run recently, leading six, then eight student-athletes to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 2014 and 2015 respecticely. Each mark was a new school record at the meet.
- The trend hasn't been limited to just outdoor track. The Syracuse men's indoor track and field team won its first ACC Championship this season and the men's cross country team is coming off its second National Championship in program history this season, while the women posted the second-best finish ever.
ROLLING DEEP IN THE 10K
- Four men and two women will compete in the 10k for the Orange this weekend, with five competitors seeded in the top-13 of the field headed into the meet, with the top-12 men and women qualifying for Eugene.
- Colin Bennie enters as the No. 3 seed in the men's race, with teammates Philo Germano (seventh), Dan Lennon (13th) and Kevyn Hoyos (37th) qualifying on the men's side, while Shaylyn Tuite (fourth) and Margo Malone (11th) enter in good position for the women. Bennie was an All-American in the 5k last season, while Lennon earned the honor in the 10k and Germano is coming off an All-American season in cross country. Malone was the lone woman to qualify for NCAAs last season and earned First Team All-America honors in the 10k after a seventh place finish.
- The 10k will be the first contested semifinal. With no qualifying heats, the race will be decided on Thursday night.
DEEP HURDLES FIELD TOO
- In the 110-meter hurdles, Syracuse has three competitors, including the No. 3 seed, while Tia Thevenin will represent the Orange in the 100-meter hurdles, which begins on Friday.
- ACC Champion Freddie Crittenden III, who was the NCAA runner up in the indoor season, highlights the field for SU with a seed time of 13.48 seconds. He's joined by freshman Richard Floyd and sophomore David Gilstrap, who will all competed in seperate preliminary heats.
- Thevenin owns the 27th-best seed time entering the meet.Â
KNIGHT SEEKING 4TH-STRAIGHT ALL-AMERICA NOD
- Justyn Knight enters the East Prelims with the second-fastest seed time in the 5k, an event he earned First Team All-America honors in last season. Knight then followed it up with cross country and indoor track first team All-America honors for three-straight entering this outdoor campaign.
- Knight will look to get back to Eugene in his race on Saturday night.
1500 DUO HIGHLY SEEDED
- Adam Palamar (5th) and Joel Hubbard (23rd) will represent the Orange in the 1500-meters.
- The pair is coming off a third and fourth place finish in the event at the ACC Championships, with Palamar just edging out Hubbard.
ONE MORE FOR HARRISON IN THE 100
- Shaina Harrison will conclude her illustrious career in Orange this season, but she's hoping it's in Eugene in two weeks.
- The Orange senior is seeded 41st in the 100-meter dash entering the prelims.
- Winston Lee will represent the Orange on the men's side of the event, with the No. 46 seed in the East.
