Syracuse's Alyssa Manley will continue her path to the Olympics with USA Field Hockey, as the Orange's senior captain has been named as one-of-19 players on the USWNT's Champions Trophy roster by head coach Craig Parnham.
As part of the roster, Manley will travel to compete in two matches against the Dutch Women's National Team before heading to the Champions Trophy in London, England, in one of the International Hockey Federation's Premiere events of international competition.
All-six teams in the event are currently ranked in the top-seven of the FIH World Rankings.
"This is an important phase for us as we prepare for the Olympics in August," Parnham said in a release. "The games in Holland followed by the Champions Trophy provide us with a great opportunity to play against the world's top teams. This competitive match phase allows us to continue to refine and grow the technical and tactical components of our game."
The series against the Dutch National Team will take place on June 8 and 10, before heading to the Champions Trophy, which takes place in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park from June 18-26. Each team will play five games before a final match will be played based on performance. In addition to Team USA, the tournament features The Netherlands, which is the No. 1 ranked team in the world currently, No. 2 Argentina, No. 3 Australia, No. 4 New Zealand and No. 6 Great Britain.
Manley was a team captain for the Orange squad that seized the program's first NCAA Championship this fall and claimed ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors while helping the Orange to a perfect regular season. The Lititz, Pa. native was then named the Honda Award Recipient, becoming the first student-athlete in Syracuse University history to receive the prestigious honor.
