
Boeheim's Army Advances

Boeheim's Army survived its first weekend in The Basketball Tournament and in the process advanced to the event's "Super 16" in Philadelphia next weekend.
This Orange edition opened the tournament on Saturdya with a convincing, 87-59 victory against Basketball City NYC. Boeheim's Army featured seven players in double figures, led by Eric Devendorf, who contributed 14 points. C.J. Fair and Brandon Triche each had 13 points and Hakim Warrick added 11 points and nine rebounds.Â
In the second round against the North Broad Street Bullies, Boeheim's Army emerged with an 86-82 triumph. Devendorf had 19 points and Fair 13. Warrick added 12 points.
Boeheim's Army now faces the Untouchables, a team made up primarily of former Pittsburgh players, on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. The game is scheduled for Philadelphia University and will be televised on ESPN2.
Boeheim's Army, with a roster made up exclusively of former Syracuse players except for Purdue's Willie Deane, traveled from across the country to gather in Philadelphia. The longest trip was made by Fair, who played in the NBA's Las Vegas Summer League on Friday before coming East. Rick Jackson drove all the way from Houston to compete.
