
Orange Take Top Spot in Latest Poll

Following its 4-0 start to the season, the Syracuse field hockey team sits atop the NFHCA Coaches Poll, earning its first No. 1 ranking since Nov. 3 of 2015.
Syracuse received 25 of 41 first place votes to highlight the ACC heavy poll, featuring the top-three teams and six of the top-11 programs.
Behind 'Cuse's 788 points comes Duke (712 points, 1 first place vote), North Carolina (707 points, 7 first place votes), UConn (697 points) and Penn State (590 points, 8 first place votes).

In addition to Duke and North Carolina, Syracuse is set to face No. 8 Louisville, No. 9 Wake Forest, No. 11 Virginia, No. 13 Boston University, No. 14 Stanford, and No. 18 Boston College. 'Cuse has also defeated No. 7 Maryland.
The Orange opened the season with a convincing 8-0 win over Temple, which was receiving votes in the NFHCA Preseason Poll, then two days later scored four unanswered goals in a 4-1 victory over then No. 6 Maryland to open the 2016 campaign two weeks ago. Then this past weekend, Syracuse rallied from a late deficit to defeat No. 13 Liberty 3-2 in overtime and downed Hofstra 5-1 a day later.
The Orange now return to J.S. Coyne Stadium to open its home slate and ACC play on Friday at 3:30 p.m. against Boston College. In addition to being the ACC opener, the game will serve as a special contest for the Orange as the 2015 NCAA Championship banner is unveiled. The team will then face No. 14 Stanford on Sunday.
