HOME OPENER SHOULD BE A SPECIAL OCCASION
- The Syracuse field hockey team claimed the 2015 NCAA Championship, and Friday's home opener will celebrate that monumental achievement with the unveiling of the 2015 NCAA Championship banner.
- Fans are encouraged to arrive shortly before the 3:30 p.m. start time as the short ceremony will take place prior to pregame introductions. As always for Syracuse field hockey home games, admission is free.
- Syracuse standout and 2016 Olympian Alyssa Manley will also be presented with the Honda Award by representatives of the organization on the field, Friday and be honored again on Sunday for her achievements including making the 2016 Olympic team.
- Fans in attendance on Friday will be given the 2016 team poster and schedule cards.
- Sunday's matchup will serve as Military and First Responders Day.
'Cuse vs. Boston College
- Facing off for the 30th time in series history, SU boasts a 21-8 all-time record against Boston College entering Friday's tilt.
- Having won two in a row against the Eagles, the Orange has also won seven of its last 10 in the series.
- Despite falling behind 2-0 early in last year's matchup with BC, Syracuse scored three unanswered goals to stay unbeaten, with the game-winner coming from then-junior Emma Lamison. The Boston College game last year was one of Syracuse's steepest tests, as it was one of just-three games where Syracuse trailed.
Cuse vs. Stanford
- Syracuse has never lost to Stanford throughout the two programs' seven-game history, which dates back to Sep. 14, 1997.
- In last year's season-opener, the Orange took down the Cardinal 2-1 behind goals from Roos Weers and Emma Lamison.
- Syracuse has outscored Stanford 18-6 during its seven victories, but the Cardinal again proved to be a tough test in last year's season opener which Syracuse won 2-1.
Back on Top!
- After starting the season ranked second in the Preseason Penn Monto/NFHCA Poll, Syracuse moved up to the poll's top spot following four wins to start the season.
- Syracuse replaces defending ACC-Champion North Carolina atop the poll.
- It's the fourth season since 2008 where Syracuse has spent at least one week ranked No. 1 nationally.
- Syracuse has been in the top-five of 14-straight polls and has been ranked in 90-straight polls.
300
- The Orange's 5-1 victory over Hofstra was Ange Bradley's 300th career win.
- She is the 36th coach to ever reach the 300-win plateau and is one of 11-active coaches with at least 300 wins.
- Bradley ranks fourth amongst active D1 coaches in terms of win percentage and also holds the sixth-best mark in NCAA DI history.
National Honors for Lagerweij
- Following her eight-point weekend that led Syracuse over No. 13 Liberty and Hofstra, junior back Lies Lagerweij was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week.
- Lagerweij's four goals also earned her the Longstreth/NFHCA D1 Defensive Player of the Week award.
- It's the second-straight week a member of the Orange has been awarded NFHCA National Player of the Week honors after Regan Spencer earned the award in week one.
