
Hurff, Lagerweij and Weers Named All-Americans

Three Syracuse field hockey stars were named NFHCA All-Americans on Tuesday, headlined by senior Lies Lagerweij and junior Roos Weers on the second team who each earned All-America honors for the second time. Laura Hurff was earned a spot on the third team, making the senior a three-time All-American.

The three All-Americans ties for the second most of any school in the nation. Hurff becomes the fifth player in Syracuse history to be a three-time All-American, joining Alyssa Manley (2013-15), Laura Hahnefeldt (2010, 2012-13), Martina Loncarica (2008-10) and Julie Williamson (1992-94). Lagerweij and Weers become the 12th and 13th student-athletes to win the award multiple times.
Weers enters her senior season with a chance to re-write the Orange record books, finishing her third campaign at Syracuse ranked 14th on the all-time points list (85) and 13th on the all-time goals list (32). She finished the year with 19 points on seven goals and five assists, while also bolstering the back line from her center back position. Weers was also the Syracuse captain this season.

Lagwerweij has done it all at Syracuse, playing both back and forward. She wrapped up her final season at 'Cuse with five goals and three assists, while also leading the Orange back line to allowing the second-fewest goals against in a season in Syracuse history. She's also one of the school's most prolific scorers ever, finishing her career 15th on the career goals list with 27.

Hurff started 18 games this season, finishing the year with 16 points on five goals and six assists, including a game-winner. She finishes her time at 'Cuse with 77 games played, 20 goals and 15 assists. In addition to being a three-time All-American, she's a three-time all-region selection and three-time NFHCA All-Academic Team honoree.
The Orange reached the NCAA Tournament for the 10th-straight season this year, ultimately falling to No. 3 Michigan in the first round.
