SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange close out a four-game homestand as they host Drexel for the second part of a men's/women's double-header at the Carrier Dome. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. and the game will air on ACC Network Extra and can be heard on Syracuse IMG Radio Network with Brian Higgins ('04) on the call.
Families are invited to bring their daughters out for Daughter Day at the Dome! The game will include giveaways and activities such as women's basketball t-shirts and a halftime selfie station to commemorate the night. Fans can purchase tickets online, by phone at (1-888-DOMETIX) or at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B).
Syracuse is riding a 9-0 win streak after defeating Colgate 79-39 in a defense heavy effort by 'Cuse. The Orange are one of three undefeated teams remaining in the ACC, joined by Florida State and Louisville, and are one of 14 unbeaten teams left in the nation. Redshirt junior Miranda Drummond leads the Orange in scoring (19.1 pts/game), having recorded a double-figure outing in every game this season with three 20-point contests. She ranks second on the team in rebounds (7.6/game).
The Dragons sit at 6-3 on the season, in the midst of a four-game win streak. Most recently, Drexel posted a come-from-behind 66-65 victory over Niagara to keep its win streak alive. Two of the Dragon's three losses came against opponents who were ranked or received votes in the national polls (Virginia Tech and West Virginia). Senior Kelsi Lidge paces the Dragons in points and rebounds, averaging 12.1 and 5.5 per game, respectively, on the season.
SERIES HISTORY
Syracuse and Drexel have met just three times before in program history, with all three contests coming in the last five years. The Orange hold the 2-1 edge over the Dragons, defeating Drexel by 20 points in the first two meetings between the schools.
Â
However, the Dragons have recorded the most recent victory, outlasting the Orange 62-61 just a season ago when the teams squared-off in Philadelphia.
DISHING OUT DIMES
Sophomore Tiana Mangakahia continues to impress, averaging 11.4 assists per game through eight outings this season. She currently leads the nation in assists (103) and assists per game (11.4) and has accumulated seven double-doubles this season, good for sixth in the country and first in the ACC.
The Australia native broke the Syracuse women's basketball program record for single-game assists with 17 against Vanderbilt. The previous record was set by Libby McNulty in 1982 when she dished 15 assists against Howard.
Mangakahia ended her streak of games with 10+ assists at eight consecutive games. She is the only NCAA Division I basketball athlete to accomplish that feat this season and tied Tine Freil of Pacific for the most consecutive double-figure assist games in NCAA Division I history. Freil posted eight straight games during the 1989-90 season.
UP NEXT
Syracuse takes a break from game action for a week before embarking on a week-long road trip during which they will play three games in six days. The Orange open the road slate against Coastal Carolina on Nov. 17. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. and the game can be listened to on Syracuse IMG Radio Network or Cuse.TV.
