Hey 'Cuse fans! Syracuse volleyball will be releasing a weekly offseason blog with one entry from each student-athlete. This week marks the fourthinstallment of our 'Offseason Updater' with an exceprt from freshman Kendra Lukacs!
Name: Kendra Lukacs
Postition: Outside hitter
Year: Freshman
Major: Enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences
Hometown: Calgary, Alberta
Kendra: I personally think this spring is going to be very crucial for this team. Having such a short time in season to gain chemistry on the court, this offseason gives us all the opportunity to aggrandize our individual skills. I personally will be focusing a lot on my blocking as well as strengthening my offensive shots. It is vital for our team's future success that we all individually focus on how we can better ourselves as players and support our teammates as we struggle and grow in this offseason. I also plan on pushing myself physically with our strength and conditioning coaches to jump higher and enhance my agility.
As I take on this semester scholastically, I plan to prioritize my schoolwork and use the time I save on weekends to keep up and even get ahead in my schoolwork. As a freshman I am still figuring out my major so I will use this spring to ensure my GPA enables me to have the options I want.
Additionally, I look forward to putting more time towards music in my spare time. Being so busy in season I didn't get many opportunities to keep up with playing guitar and singing. Music has always been such a huge part of my life and playing really relieves a lot of my everyday stresses and gives me a small break from reality, similar to playing volleyball.
