Syracuse Closes Out Regular Season at Penn State

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – With a first round bye clinched in next week's College Hockey America tournament already clinched, the Syracuse women's hockey team will travel to Penn State this weekend to close out the regular season.

Friday's game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network and will begin at 4:30 p.m. Saturday's game will be streamed on BTN2go.com and puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m.

ORANGE COMING INTO THE GAMES
Syracuse (13-12-5, 12-4-2 CHA) is coming off a sweep of Rochester Institute of Technology last weekend. The Orange came out with a 5-2 win in Rochester and a 2-0 victory in Syracuse on Senior Day. Junior goaltender Abbey Miller set a new single-season record with her seventh shutout of the season on Saturday.

In all, six different Orange members scored against the Tigers with Jessica Sibley being the only one with multiple goals. Sibley currently has a six-game point scoring streak dating back to Jan. 27.

The Orange are in second place in the CHA standings, two points behind No. 9 Robert Morris.

'Cuse is led in scoring by Stephanie Grossi with 26 points (13 goals, 13 assists) this season. Her point total is the sixth highest in the conference. Alysha Burriss comes in second with 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists) on the year.

SCOUTING THE NITTANY LIONS
Penn State (9-18-5, 8-8-2 CHA) has won three of its last four games, including one of two against Robert Morris last weekend. The Nittany Lions took the first game of the series, 3-2, but dropped the second meeting, 2-0.

The Nittany Lions are currently in fourth place in CHA standings, one point behind third-place Mercyhurst. With only two games remaining in the regular season, Penn State is guaranteed either third or fourth place.

Laura Bowman leads Penn State with 31 points (18 goals, 13 assists) this season. That is the third highest mark in the league.

SERIES HISTORY
The two programs have met 20 times in series history. The Orange own a 16-1-3 advantage against the Nittany Lions, including a 6-1-1 record in University Park.

Earlier in the season, Syracuse and Penn State squared off in Syracuse on Jan. 13 and 14. The Orange picked up a pair of 3-1 and 4-1 wins. In the first game, Emily Costales scored two goals and Grossi added the other. The second game featured two goals from Allie Munroe and one from Laurence Porlier and Brooke Avery.

CHA TOURNAMENT
With a first round bye clinched, Syracuse's first game in the CHA Tournament will be on Friday, March 3 in the semifinals. The Orange will not know their game time until the seeds are finalized. Below is a schedule of the games:
