Hey 'Cuse fans! Syracuse volleyball will be releasing a weekly offseason blog with one entry from each student-athlete. This week marks the 10th installment of our 'Offseason Updater' with an excerpt from sophomore Jalissa Trotter.
Name: Jalissa Trotter
Postition: Setter
Year: Sophomore
Major: Health and Exercise Science in the School of Education
Hometown: Texarkana, Texas
Jalissa: This spring has been a great learning experience. I have been able to take extra time to focus on what our team needs from me and how I can provide that. Spring is a time for learning and building connections with each other. I have enjoyed the learning experience from this spring thus far. As I am aware, the spring season is just as important for each volleyball program as the regular season. This is the time for adjusting and building a team that is well organized.
For this spring I have been able to have more time to spend on my research while having the ability to attend many program organizations that benefit my education experience, such as the Fit Families Program. I have the opportunity to attend college fairs and things that interest me like yoga and self-defense classes. The spring season permits time to use many of my weekends to be more engaged in other important extracurricular actives.
The spring also opens up a few blocks to have more time to take additional hours and schedule experience credit; this is required for my major, as I am a health and exercise science major with a coaching minor. I am also in the honors program, therefore spring is a great time to complete many hours or classes required. Syracuse has so much to offer in the spring and I am excited to be able to experience much of it.
