The Syracuse field hockey team starred in the classroom as well in 2016, earning the National Academic Team Award from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Monday.
The NFHCA National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that achieved a minimum team grade point average of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2016-17 academic year. Each of the seven ACC programs were presented with the honor, with NFHCA individual academic accolades to be announced later this week.
'Cuse finished 15-4 and finished second in the nation's most difficult conference after posting a 4-2 record in the ACC. The Orange spent the entirety of the season ranked inside the top-five and hosted the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive season. The longest active streak in the nation.
