Hey 'Cuse fans! Syracuse volleyball will be releasing a weekly offseason blog with one entry from each student-athlete. This week marks the seventh installment of our 'Offseason Updater' with an exceprt from sophomore Anastasiya Gorelina!
Name: Anastasiya Gorelina
Postition: Outside Hitter
Year: Sophomore
Major: Enrolled in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics
Hometown: Tashkent, Uzbekistan
Anastasiya: Spring semester gives me an opportunity to pay attention to my own goals in school and in volleyball practice. Last season was my first full season at Syracuse University. It was a hard season and thanks to it, I found my weaknesses on which I want to work in spring. In this semester, I set goals that I want to reach and prepare myself for next season. This also applies not only to volleyball but also to my health. I do a series of special exercises to strengthen my body.
Academics are very important to me this semester because I decided my major and took one class to try it out. I like to cook, that is why I am interested in a Food Studies major. Moreover, in this semester I want to learn as much as possible about food, about the origin of food and all the necessary facts.
I have more free time in spring because we do not have games, so I want to take part in college life too. I plan to attend some campus events. I can take time for myself to go swimming and join a yoga class. I dream to learn how to cook some dishes. Also, I will have more opportunities to spend time with my friends.
