Final Road Test Awaits Orange at Colgate

‘Cuse, Raiders meet for Wednesday doubleheader
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse softball puts its 11-7 road record to the test one last time this season, as the Orange (26-17, 7-10 ACC) travel to Hamilton, New York, to face Colgate (11-24-1, 2-10 Patriot League) for a midweek non-conference doubleheader.
Both games at Eaton Street Field will be broadcast live on the Patriot League Network and live stats will be provided.
'Cuse will then return home for a five-game stretch to close out the regular season at Skytop Softball Stadium.
The Orange own a 6-2 all-time series record over Colgate, as the pair first met in 2001. Syracuse began a three-game win streak with a 1-0 victory over nine innings in the inaugural meeting before claiming a second 1-0 victory to sweep the doubleheader.
SU and Colgate didn't meet again until 2009, when 'Cuse shutout the Raiders, 6-0, before falling in game two, 5-1, to split the twinbill matchup. Since 2009, the pair have met in 2012, 2014 and 2016, where the Orange have a 3-1 record. Most recently, Syracuse defeated Colgate 10-3 before dropping game two, 3-2, and splitting the second doubleheader of the all-time series.
The Raiders are 11-24-1 on the year and 2-10 in Patriot League conference play. Colgate hosts Syracuse on Wednesday after dropping a conference series to Holy Cross, two games to one. Last season, Colgate was 12-29 and 7-11 in league play. The Raiders did not participate in the Patriot League tournament.
The Orange faced off against fellow Patriot League member Lehigh at a tournament earlier this season and won, 9-2.
