
Orange Pick Up Wins at Big Red Invite

The Syracuse men's and women's track and field teams earned six event wins on Sunday at the Cornell Big Red Outdoor Invitational.
Paul Lovell picked up the win in the 800, finishing in 1:51.85, nearly four seconds ahead of the next-closest competitor. Sam Somera also raced in the event for 'Cuse, finishing in 2:00.98, which was good for 15th.
Tia Thevenin won the 100-meter hurdles in a personal best time of 13.39 seconds. Danielle Delgado wasn't far behind, taking third in 13.58 seconds, while Aviana Goode placed sixth in 14.28 seconds.
Goode would go on to win the high jump, leaping to a mark of 1.65 meters, later in the meet. She also finished sixth in the long jump (5.23 meters)
Aidan Tooker, Philo Germano, Simon Smith, Adam Visokay, Griff Molino and Andy Paladino all finished inside the top-eight of the 1500. Tooker led the way in 3:46.72, which took the overall victory, Germano was right behind in 2:48.04 and second. Smith (3:53.74/fourth), Visokay (3:53.95/fifth), Molino (3:54.98/sixth) and Paladino (4:00.17/eighth) finished in succession behind. Dominic Hockenbury (4:05.84) finished in 11th, with Nick Ryan (4:20.02) and Declan Kottmeier (4:25.39) also competing.
Chevis Armstead won the 110-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 14.40 seconds, with Armstead coming back to help win the 4x100-meter dash later in the day. Armstead led off the relay that featured Kashif Miller, Pascal Bastien and Winston Lee, with the group crossing the line in 41.65 seconds.

Miller finished third in the 100-meter dash earlier in the day – first among collegiate competitors – setting a personal-best time of 10.72 seconds. Victoria Parker was the top collegian in the women's 100, finishing in 12.16 seconds. Her time was good for seventh overall.
Mary Malone led the way with a third place finish in the women's 1500-meters. She crossed the line in 4:44.10. Madeline Davison (4:46.16/fifth) and Chelsie Pennello (4:46.91/seventh) weren't far behind. Maggie Toczko (4:57.50) and Ryley Higgins (5:16.72) also competed for 'Cuse.
LaZyrick Middlebrooks placed fourth in the 400, crossing the line in 49.31 seconds.

In the long jump, Randall Johnson leaped to a distance of 6.93 meters, which was good for ninth. Bastien finished right behind in 10th, with a mark of 6.70 meters.
In the triple jump, Regine Hunter placed second with a distance of 11.58 meters, and Ebhani Blackwood finished fourth with a distance of 11.46 meters.
Next, Syracuse will head to the Payton Jordan Invitational in the final meet before the ACC Championships.
