
Volleyball to Face Five NCAA Tournament Teams in 2017

Orange open with Syracuse tournament
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse opens its 2017 campaign with a four-game tournament at the Women's Building and will face five 2016 NCAA tournament contenders over the course of 33 games, announced Monday by head coach Leonid Yelin.
The Orange will match up with Wisconsin and Kansas State in the second weekend of action of the 2017 slate at the Kansas State tournament in Manhattan, Kansas. SU opens the tournament on Friday, September 1 with a 10 a.m. battle with the Badgers, who advanced to the fourth round of the 2016 NCAA tournament before suffering a 3-2 loss to 2016 national champion Stanford.
Syracuse will then face tournament host Kansas State for a 7:30 p.m. contest. The Wildcats were eliminated by Ohio State, 3-2, in the second round of the NCAA tournament. SU will also play Arkansas to end the K-State tournament.
Three Atlantic Coast Conference teams earned bids to the big dance, as Pittsburgh lost to Penn State, 3-1, in the second round of play, while North Carolina lost to UCLA, 3-1, and Florida State lost to Stanford, 3-1, in the third round of the tournament.
The Orange host Colgate, Siena, Niagara and Grand Canyon for a two-day tournament to start the season at the Women's Building on August 25 and 26. Syracuse travels to Dartmouth to face the Big Green, Sacred Heart and Iona on September 8 and 9, before heading to Hempstead, N.Y., on September 15 and 16 to play Bryant, Binghamton and host-team Hofstra.
SU opens ACC play at home against Boston College on Wednesday, September 20, before taking a three-game road trip to Pittsburgh, Duke and Wake Forest.
The Orange return home for a duo of games versus Clemson and Georgia Tech on October 6 and 8, and then face Boston College for the second game, this time on the road on October 11. 'Cuse comes back to the Women's Building to host Pittsburgh on October13, before traveling to play Georgia Tech and Clemson on October 20 and 22, respectively.
Syracuse comes back to central New York for a pair of games against Virginia Tech and Virginia over the October 27 weekend, before taking to the road for a four-game stand to close out travel for the season beginning November 3. The Orange host four-straight games beginning on November 17 to close out the 2017 regular season at the Women's Building.
