Nine Home Games Highlight Field Hockey Slate

Nine home games at J.S. Coyne Stadium will highlight the 2017 Syracuse field hockey schedule.
'Cuse will play five September home dates, including ACC contests with Wake Forest and North Carolina and four more in October, headlined with a conference battle against Virginia, giving Orange fans plenty of opportunities to see Syracuse play top-level competition this season.
Complete Schedule
After three home scrimmages kick off the season against Bucknell (Aug. 14), Penn State (Aug. 19) and Toronto (Aug. 21), the Orange will head to California to play three games in four days. 'Cuse will begin the west coast swing against Cal in Berkley, California on Aug. 25, before taking on Pacific and UC Davis in back-to-back days.
The following weekend, SU will host a pair of games, welcoming Bucknell for the home opener on Sept. 2 and facing Ohio on Sept. 3.
ACC play kicks off on the road on Sept. 8, when Syracuse will face Boston College to open their slate in the nation's most difficult conference. On the return trip to Syracuse, the Orange will take on Albany on Sept. 10.
Wake Forest will be the first conference foe to visit Coyne this season, with 'Cuse hosting the Demon Deacons on Sept. 16. The next day, Rutgers will visit Syracuse.
North Carolina comes to town on Sept. 23 to continue a series that has been highly competitive since the Orange joined the league. The Orange and Tar Heels went to overtime in their lone meeting last season and met three times – including the 2015 NCAA title game, 2014 NCAA semifinal and two of the last-three ACC title games – each of the prior two seasons before that.
'Cuse will then play its only split weekend of the year, with a road game at Louisville on Friday, Sept. 29, followed by a home date with Princeton on Sunday, Oct. 1. Head coach Ange Bradley's squad is hopeful it's the first-of-three trips to Kentucky on the season, as Louisville will also serve as the site for the ACC and NCAA Championships in November.
Following the Princeton contest, Syracuse will play its final-two ACC regular season contests on back-to-back Saturdays, beginning with a road trip to Duke on Oct. 7. Syracuse will then host Virginia on Oct. 14. Syracuse will also host Drexel the weekend it hosts the Cavaliers, with the Dragons coming to town on Oct. 15.
The final regular season road trip of 2017 will be when the Orange visit Penn on Oct. 22, with the Syracuse seniors playing their final regular season game at J.S. Coyne Stadium on Oct. 29 vs. Pacific.
The ACC Tournament will run from Nov. 2 to Nov. 5 in Louisville. All-seven ACC teams make the tournament, with the No. 1 seed getting a bye to the semifinals.
The first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament will be played at four sites determined by the four national seeds. Syracuse has been a top-four national seed each of the last-four years and enters the 2017 season with the longest active hosting streak in the nation. Those games will take place on Nov. 11-12.
The Final Four will run from Nov. 17-19 in Louisville. 'Cuse is looking to return to the final four for the fourth time in the last-six seasons, with NCAA Championship game appearances in both 2014 and 2015 highlighting the recent success.
To accomplish the goal, Syracuse returns a trio of All-Americans, including senior back Lies Lagerweij, senior midfielder Laura Hurff and junior back Roos Weers. Those three will be joined by nine other student-athletes who saw action in 2016, eight of whom made at least one start.
