Orange Rank Fifth in Preseason Poll

The Syracuse field hockey team will enter the 2017 season No. 5 in the NFHCA Poll.
The Orange collected 978 points in the poll, with North Carolina (1,173 points, 14 first-place votes) projected as the preseason favorite. Duke (1,081 points, 15 first-place votes), Delaware (1,003 points, seven first-place votes) and UConn (993 points, four first-place votes), round out the top five between Carolina and 'Cuse.
All-seven ACC teams rank in the top-15, with Syracuse set to face off against eight of the top-25 teams represented in the poll in 2017.
The Orange open the 2017 season on Friday at Cal.
