Orange Faces NC State on the Road Sunday

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After a week of preparation Syracuse's women's basketball team will face NC State on the road Sunday, Jan. 14 at 2 p.m.  The game will air on ACC Network Extra and can be heard on Syracuse IMG Sports Radio Network with Brian Higgins on the call.

The Orange are 14-3 overall and 2-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference this season with sophomore Tiana Mangakahia leading the team in points (17.8 per game) and assists (10.4 per game) while she also leads the nation in assists (177) and assists per game. Junior Miranda Drummond enters Sunday coming off a career-night in 'Cuse's last time out. She dropped 38 points against No. 11/12 Florida State and set career-bests in field goals made (12) and 3-pointers made (8). The Binghamton native is currently second on the team in scoring with 17.5 points per game and ranks 23rd in the nation in 3-pointers made with 49.
As a team, Syracuse is outscoring opponents by 9.7 points per game. The Orange is shooting 41 percent from the field and 30.4 percent from 3-point range while holding opponents to 39.9 percent from the field and an average of 6.6 3-pointers per game.
The Wolfpack is 13-5 (2-3 in conference) following Wednesday night's 56-43 win over Georgia Tech. Led by Chelsea Nelson (13.7 ppg), four members of NC State's roster are averaging double figures in scoring. Nelson also leads the team with 9.4 rebounds per game. The Pack is 9-2 at home this season and is 2-3 in its last five contests.
SERIES HISTORY
Sunday is the ninth meeting between Syracuse and NC State since the two teams first met on Dec. 29, 1995. The series is tied 4-4 with the Orange holding a 1-1 record on the road against the Wolfpack.
When the two met last, The Orange defeated the Pack 85-75 on Jan. 12, 2017, in the Carrier Dome. 'Cuse has won the last four meetings between the two.
DYNAMIC DUO
Syracuse's dynamic duo of Mangakahia and Drummond earned weekly honors following career performances in back-to-back games. Mangakahia was named ACC Player of the Week and Citizen Naismith Trophy Player of the Week after a 44-point performance against Georgia Tech on Jan. 4. She made 20-of-21 free throws against the Yellow Jackets and shot 70 percent (14-for-20) from the field.
Drummond was named College Sports Madness SCC and National Player of the Week on Jan. 8 following her 38-point game against Florida State. She currently ranks 23rd in the nation in 3-pointers made with 49 buckets from behind the arc.
