
'Cuse Trio Named to All-ACC Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Senior Belle Sand, Junior Santita Ebangwese and freshman Ella Saada of the Syracuse volleyball team have been named to the All-ACC Academic Volleyball Team, the conference announced Wednesday. The accolade marks the third straight for Ebangwese and the second straight for Sand.
The 2017 All-ACC Academic Volleyball Team has 37 honorees, with 13 different institutions represented. Louisville led the league with six selections, followed by five for Notre Dame. Duke, Miami, North Carolina, Pittsburgh and Syracuse each had three honorees, while Florida State, Georgia Tech, NC State, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest had two, and Virginia had one student-athlete selected.
Sand is an economics major in the College of Arts and Sciences. She is an active representative of the Syracuse University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), a three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll member and has qualified for the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll in all six of her completed semesters.
The Mabel, Minn. native led Syracuse and ranked second in the ACC with 540 digs and 4.50 digs per set. Sand was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Defensive Player of the Year.
Ebangwese is a bioengineering major in the School of Engineering and is enrolled in the honors program. She is an active representative of the Syracuse University SAAC, a two-time ACC Academic Honor Roll Member and has qualified for the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll in all four of her completed semesters.
A native of Rochester, N.Y., Ebangwese was the only Syracuse player to start all 36 matches and play in all 131 sets. She posted a team-high 331 kills and led the Orange with 166 total blocks. Ebangwese was an All-ACC First team selection, a Second Team All-ECAC Honoree and an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) East Region All-American.
Saada is undeclared in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics.
The Kfar Masaryk, Israel native posted 234 kills and 278 digs in her first season with the Orange and was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
