
Weers Named All-ACC First Team

Syracuse, N.Y. – Senior Roos Weers was named First Team All-ACC by the leagues seven head coaches on Wednesday becoming the second field hockey player in program history to become a four-time all-conference selection and first since Syracuse joined the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2013. The 2015 ACC Freshman of the Year and caps off a stellar collegiate career with her third First Team All-ACC recognition. She was named to the All-ACC Second Team in 2017.
Weers, a two-time NFHCA All-American, leads the Orange in goals (10), points (23) and game-winning goals (5) this season. The senior back twice earned ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors this season and ranks in the top-10 in four statistical categories in the ACC including fifth in game-winning goals and seventh in points.
The Bussum, Netherlands, native enters Thursday's ACC Tournament quarterfinal tied for third in career goals (42), sixth in points (108) and tied for tenth in assists (24) at Syracuse. She helped guide the Orange to their first NCAA National Championship in school history in 2015.
Weers is the 15th player in the 36-year history of ACC field hockey to be a four-time honoree.
Tracy Larkin was a four-time BIG EAST selection from Syracuse from 1996-1999.
Weers and the Orange set their sights on the ACC Tournament where No. 17 'Cuse will face third-ranked Duke in the quarterfinals at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 1:30 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
